photos file just grey

When I d/l a foto from my e-mail 2 my fotos file it appears as just a blank
grey file but I can see the foto on my e-mail. How do I get the foto to
appear? I had no prob at all till after pc needed a system restore.
Also how do I stop files from being automatically zipped?

What email client do you use and what did you use to view the downloaded
photos.

Also how do I stop files from being automatically zipped?

Files attached on an email are sent as is. What you receive is what you
get.

I'm using AOL 9.0 as my ISP and for e-mail and when I try to view a foto I've
d/l to my fotos file on xp it gets viewed on windows picture and fax viewer
which I think is a recent change but as I didn't change it I'm not really
sure.
