Roxio on Windows Vista

Yesterday I received my new Dell laptop with Windows Vista Premium.
Also installed was a Roxio software suite. I never heared from it
before and therefore never used it.

Now this thing is just ennoying at the moment and I don't see what I
can use it for. I had to remove autostart entries and automatic
services which where only ennyoing. And as I understand Vista already
includes some burning stuff for CD and DVD.

My question, because I really couldn't find it anywehere: What do I
need Roxio for? What's the benefit of can I uninstall it? Burning
DVD's for me means backup, fotos and once a year a movie made with
Windows Movie Maker.

Thanks.
Daniel

Roxio (or Nero) if it is working correctly, gives you greatly enhanced
burning capabilities. I have been using Roxio for the past 6 years and am
eagerly awaiting the next version.

I doubt Dell gave you the full version. I just bought a copy of Easy
Creator 9 Suite and the full install eats up tons of disk space. Like
its main competitor Nero, both suites if you install everything, are
Swiss Army Knife types of applications when it comes to simple video
editing, graphic touch up and most importantly the ability to burn
CD's and DVD's in many different ways. Like with anything else not
everybody needs all the tools in the toolbox. At best what Vista does
by default in the areas of video editing, and disk copying and DVD
burning if you get a version that does, not all do, is well, crude.

Both Nero and Easy take these kinds of tasks to the next level,
especially nice for burning tasks. If you're really looking to do
serious video editing, DVD authoring and photo enhancement and editing
of course both these are toys compared to what else is out there if
you're REALLY into those tasks like I am. So what I'm saying is
different strokes for different folks. I wouldn't be that hasty to
uninstall it, all and all its pretty cool in what it can do, probably
even in a crippled version which is probably what you got for free.
