Photos do not appear

Pictures ( Gifs,Jpgs) are not appearing on any webpages.
Instead, I see a white square with a red x in the upper
left hand corner. How can I get the pictures to appear?

Those are downloading placeholders. Either the pic hasn't
finished loading yet (look at the status bar at the bottom
of the window, and/or does it say "done" on the bottom
left corner of the window?) or the site doesn't have the
pic anymore.

Does it happen with ALL or just SOME sites?

Next, on Internet Explorer, click Tools, Internet
Options... , then click the advanced tab. Page down about
1/2 way to "Multimedia" and make sure all of those boxes
are checked, then click apply. then OK.

All the boxes are checked and yes it does happen on all
websites. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
