Photo Story 3 Poor Quality WMVs Vs. PhotoStory 2 WMVs

Can anyone else vouch for this?

Let me give the info:

I use the source jpgs from A Nikon D100 at 6.1 MP on fine Quality 2000x3008
I import them with no editing into PS3, and select the highest Quality
1024x768

What I get are pictures with noticeable blocks in the screen. And there is
no "zooming" that might create pixalization.

To trouble shoot I made a project and save it in PS2 and save a WMV using
the custom Profile 1024x768 available on the PS2 website. Play it in MP10
and I don't see any blocks or artifacts.
I then take the same project and open it in PS3 accepting the default
settings it applies to the PS2 Project file. I once again select the highest
settings 1024x768 in PS3. The WMV shows blocks and artifacts, easily seen in
places where there are gradients.
To further trouble shoot I have started new projects using the same photos
and different photos instead of relying on project files on both PS2 and PS3.
I consistently get poor results from PS3. I've even tried these steps on
different computers, one XP Pro and one MCE 2005. No dice.

Help! :)

I have a feeling it has something to do with the compression that goes on
when PS3 renders the WMV. Is there a way to change this?

Thanks

Nic

Just out of curiousity, why are you using such huge source files?

Why not, the higher the quality in the better. I do presentations with Photo
Story, and when it’s up on a 12 foot screen you can see the difference in the
two programs. It has to do with the compression. I've noticed that the two
programs output two different file sizes. PS2 has at profile 800x600 for x
amount of photos a 8 Mb WMV, PS3 for the same res and photo count has 1.8 Mb.
Is there a way to customize the Profiles for PS3?
