I had a system built for me recently for Audio recording.
The guy didn't install what I assumed would be MS Paint.
The reason I want it there is to have an application
available for the "print screen" function. Am I able to
simply install it from my XP disc? Or am I missing
something here in XP? Thanks in advance...

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components.
Highlight "Accessories and Utilities" and click the Details... button.
Highlight "Accessories" and click the Details... button again. Make sure
"Paint" is checked (it should be the last item on the list).

Thanks Chris but it was "not found"
He didn't install it because it's an offline DAW and it's
assumed you don't want extra programs on the system for
nothing. So yes I'm sure it's not there......

You CAN install Paint a, Windows XP Component, which might not have been
installed by default. Open Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs. On the
left you'll see a big button: Add/Remove Windows Components. Click it.
When the Windows Components window opens, the first listing, Accessories and
Utilities should already be highlighted (if not select it to highlight it).
Then click the Details button. When the Accessories and Utilities window
opens click the Details button, scroll down to Paint, if there isn't a
checkmark in the box to the left of Paint, click the box to put one there.
Then click the OK button at the bottom of that window, and the preceding
window. That should install Paint.

But, if you find that Paint already had the checkmark, maybe there's some
corruption, so remove the checkmark, click the two OK buttons, reboot, then
go back to that windows and put the checkmark back, and see if the reinstall
of the Paint applet fixes the corruption. (in essence you're uninstalling,
then reinstalling Paint).
