Photo Management in FrontPage 2003

Tim Apple

I have two Folders that I use to store Images and Clips. I have four photo
editing applications from PhotoShop 7, Elements 2.0, ACDSee etc. - but what
I can't seem to find, after going bleary eyed on FrontPage Training is how
to do the following:

1. Open Image Folder in FrontPage, pageview.

2. Select all clip/images in the folder and import them into the
application for me to review all of them in the program rather than opening
them one at a time to review, change etc. I know it's going to be so simple
I'll feel stupid I didn't already know. Hopefully the question is clear...

IMHO,
the best way to accomplish what you want is this:
with your "main web" open in FrontPage hit file/ import/ folder. browse to
one of your photo app's output folders and import it. if you want to keep
it out of your way during publishing of the "main web" just right click your
newly imported folder and select "convert to web".

I hope I understand .... do you have your site on your hard drive? If not,
publish it there. Then you can easily work with your photos in any of those
applications.

Kinda sorta sounds like Tim's talking about one of my pet-peeves with FP...a quick way of visually sorting through images within FP and not having to use IrFanview or other 3rd party image package.

FP should have a "quickie-view" built in...nothing fancy just a way of admin-ing your images quickly. IMO, FP should dump it's attempt at image editing and just build in a quickie viewer :-)---ok that's my 2 euro for the day.

I don't think is exactly what you want because you can only view them really
Go to Insert | Picture | From File on the menu at the top click the Views
icon and choose Thumbnails .... you might also have to navigate to the
images folder for your web. You can right click on a graphic from there and
send the photos where you want also.

Another Option to view images in FP, just create a new page, then open the images folder and drag
the images on to the new page.

Yah I've done that too; created a private page with all the images on it...but that's pretty tedious too and I usually forget to put them there. Soooo it's back to IrFranview to browse the Image folder I guess.

Hmmmm, sounds like a great idea for the Add-In folks!...Jim can ya hear me?

I meant a temp page, when you just need to quickly see what one or more images are.

Yah I've done that too; created a private page with all the images on it...but that's pretty tedious

FrontPage does have an image preview feature and has since at least FP 98.

Click the insert Image icon, browse to the folder with the images, click once on an image, click the
Views Icon, select Preview on the dropdown and then simply click on each image to view it.

hmmm...yah, but that's about 10 more clicks than necessary :-), and not very user friendly.

If MS can make it work there why not make it an easy to find easier to use feature? It being part of the image/insert procedure makes it kinda convoluted if your object is to sort & clean out unused images.

Crash, Preview or thumbnails are only active when browsing directories with images. Once selected it
takes 3 clicks at the most.

click click click clique..when will it all end? :-)

Next, you'll be expecting me to RTFB ??? sheesh dood.

that's reassuring to me; that's what I do. ;-)
I'll make a page and drag the files onto it from the image folder in the
"folder pane".
sometimes I'll just copy and or cut and paste them where I want them on the
"real pages".

It would be nice to have a "thumbnail view" like in windows explorer though.
