Photo Gallery Slideshow

Help!
Every time I try to arrange my pictures in a slideshow, the program freezes.
I get a status bar telling me it is generating thumbnails and then it just
gets stuck there. I have tried re-installing the software and different
pictures types.

No, I haven't because I want to have complete control over how my images are
prepared before using them in a slideshow.
