Photo attachments won't open. What do I do?

I have received several messages with photo attachments. I try but they
won't open. A box appears which says "application not found." What do I
need to do so I can view the pictures?

you need an application installed that can read that attachment.
generally, windows should have a native application for viewing photos
(.jpg, .gif, etc)

what is the file name of the attachment and what operating system are
you using?

The photos are jpg and I'm running on Windows XP.

then you should have windows picture viewer on your machine. go to:

RIGHT CLICK START
EXPLORE
TOOLS
FOLDER OPTIONS
FILE TYPES
SCROLL DOWN THE LIST AND FIND THE JPG/JPEG/JPE FILE TYPE
CLICK ON ANY OF THOSE FILE TYPES
IN THE AREA BELOW THE WINDOW, THE 'OPENS WITH' OUGHT TO BE 'WINDOWS
PICTURE AND FAX VIEWER'.

let me know if its there.

Checked as you suggested. Found some using windows picture & fax viewer and a few that were not. Made changes and so far it appears that this has resovled the problem.. Have asked some friends to forward a few pictures to be certain I can now open them.

hi, will this solution work as well on windows 2000 professional? seem I have
the same issue..but is seems that the photoviewer is not wroking properly..
any suggestions for installing a view program that one can use directly from
outlook? just click and view? thanks, karin
 
I have the same problem,. I just loaded outlook 2007 running on a vista box.
I tried to follow your instructions but that is for XP and those options
were not the same on Vista. I get the same error message Application not
found. when trying to open a jpg attachement. Hope you can help
 
Does it work when you save it to the Desktop first and then try to open it?
What is your default jpg-handler set to?
Verify your settings via Start->Default Programs
