I use photo album extensively in my work. Recently my reliable pentium II
system was surplused and replaced with a problomatic pentium IV. When I
attempt to install the photo album add-in I recieve the following message.
"Setup has detected that you do not have an Office 2000 family product
installed on this machine. Before this download can be installed you must
first install an Office 2000 family product." My new system has outlook,
powerpoint, word, excell, and access all of which function properly except
for this. The old OS was 2000NT the new OS is XP pro.

Before installing add-in, make certain you have all the Updates (Windows and
Office) installed on the machine.

My technical inabilities rear their ugly heads. How do I get office to tell
me what version it is? Looked under properties and no luck.

System Info
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Office 10 Applications
Powerpoint 2002
Looks like everything is version 2002
I have attempted the check for updates tool several times and it won't run
to completion, so I am unsure if I am fully updated, could my problem be that
the photo album add in is just incompatible with this version of Office? If
so does anyone have any ideas on how to store photo sets using an office
product that doesn't creat file sizes so large they lock up networks when you
try to save them.

Thank You, all of you very helpful. Hours of me head scratching has
revealed that Photo Album is already installed on my computer, maybe it
wasn't an add in for version 2002. However if it ever helps anyone else it
is accessed different. It is not available as a file type when you go to
open new file. You access the feature by going through the insert drop down.

You are correct. The add-in is for older versions. That's why I ask what
version you had installed. PowerPoint 2002 and 2003 have the Photo Album
feature built-in to the software.
