phone call to overide internet connection

I run MS XP Outlook Express. My computer is almost permanently online via a
modem dialup. It shares a telephone double socket with a tele/fax machine.Is
it possible to get an incoming call or fax to automatically disconnect the
dial-up connection and the tele/fax to answer? I need this to be able to
accept the occasional fax. I think I remember this happening automatically
with the same setup on on earlier system I had>

Yes. f you have call waiting, or distinctive ring, you can get switchers
that will do the job for you. Go into a good electronics store and ask.
