Hi,

You didn't say which software program you are trying to
use to burn cd's. Have you tried using the one that comes
with Win XP or have installed a different software?
Usually a computer only likes to have one burning
software installed at a time. Like Nero and Roxio do NOT
like to be installed on one machine together. The one
that comes with XP is a Roxio product.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Just using Win XP. The
strange part is that when I lok at the drives (like in
Explorer etc) it shows as a "CD-ROM" not a "CD-RW" drive
so I didn't think it would be software dependent. It's as
if XP decided this was a CD-ROM and not a CD-RW.

After installing the CD-RW (Philips CDC3610) XP
recognizes the drive and can read from it but doesn't
seem to recognize it as a CD-R. I cannot record to it.
[sys = Dell OptiPlex GX1] Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem, only I'm using W2000. I can read from, but not write to the drive. Do I need a particular Nero software for this drive? I have a Nero download for a TDK drive on another computer, but it would not work for this drive. Any suggestions?
