"Phantom" removable devices

I got my new Dell Dimension about a year ago and transferred my files etc
from my old one. This time I put everything in Drive C, previously I had it
split into C,D,E,F,G with H as the DVD Drive. Everything went fine but on
the new computer My Computer showed Disc C with all the files properly
arranged but also with DVD Drive D (that's OK), Removable Disc F, Removble
Disc G, Removable Disc H, Removable Disc I and Removable Disc J.

They didn't seem to do any harm and I have just ignored them, but now I
would like to get rid of them but don't know how. If you click on them,
they ask you to insert a disc in the drive.

Can anyone tell me how to remove them ?

Is there a card reader in the front of this computer? Do you
have a printer with a card reader? That would account for the
extra drive letters.

The easiest way to hide them is to use TweakUI from Microsoft.
Once the program is installed click on Start -> All Programs ->
Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI. Click on the + sign next
to My Computer. Click on Drives. In the right hand pane, remove
the check marks from the boxes next to the drive letters you
wish to hide. Click OK.

Here's more info on TweakUI

Good luck
