'Phantom' message in Outbox

We are using Outlook 2002 (XP) on an XP Pro machine,
connected to an Exchange 2000 Server. We recently had to
rebuild the Exchange database, and during the process, one
of our users was trying to send mail. Now, the users
outbox shows a new message waiting to be sent, yet there
is no message in the outbox. The Exchange server shows no
errors nor does it show anything in the users account. I
think this is somehow a desktop issue.

Any suggestions?

I have tried exporting and re-importing as a PST file, and
deleting and re-establishing the account with no luck.
