PFBackup Utility

Downloaded and was using this utilility. Had a corrupted user and recreated
my user succesfully. The only exception is that PFBackup is no longer works.
I downloaded it again. It told me i must remove the first one through
add/remove first.

PFBackup no longer exists in add/remove programs to remove. Searched
registry for references and removed them. Still told me to uninstall
something that's not listed.

What can I fix in the registry so as to re-install this??

Big Thanks

Tried all methods noted in KB Article however I should have noted that this
is OL2003.

Are there other similar articles?? I've looked and not found any.

Still unable to remove leftovers from the previous install.

Thanks Again

Some description within the KB article is generic. For example, it says
to run:

regsvr32 "c:\program files\microsoft
office\office\addins\outbak.dll"

But that path doesn't exist to the file for Outlook 2002. The actual
path is:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Addins

so the command for when you use Outlook 2002 would be:

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office10\Addins\outbak.dll"

You sometimes need to adapt the knowledgebase article to intelligently
apply it to YOUR setup. For Outlook 2000, I believe the subdirectory is
named "office9", for Outlook 2002 it is "office10", and for Outlook 2003
it is "office11".

Hi VGX,

Outbak.dll was not in any folder, anywhere. I had deleted it trying to get a
fresh install since it was not allowing me to remove (then reinstall) it nor
would backup run.

I did put it back in the correct folder but still canot run backup nor
add/remove to fix the functionality.

Any ideas?

Thanks

And did you then reregister that DLL file per the instructions after
putting it back in "the" folder? If it registered okay, the point is
not to get the program running again. The point was to register the DLL
so the install program would know how to remove that file and the
registry entries to do a new install.

Otherwise, you are into a manual uninstall mode where you have to do all
the work to remove the product. Of what I found on my system:

- The file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\OfficeXX\Addins\outbak.dll", where XX is whatever is appropriate
for your version of Office.

- The following registry keys by searching for "outbak" and following
through the chain of entries:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{507C0BB6-0B83-11D2-93CD-00C04FC2AAE2}
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft.OutlookBackup
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Microsoft.OutlookBackup.1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Microsoft.OutlookBackup.1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\<mySID>\Components\27C5600F4C3839742BB1465DA14A10A0

As with anything you delete, be sure to back it up first.
