PF usage and RAM

I have a 1.8 GHZ processor,Windows XP home edition and
512MB of DDRAM. for last 3-4 weeks, after 40- 50 minutes
long use of computer, i am getting a message in the taskbar
saying that system memory is too low, page file usage
starts increasing and then everything slows down badly.
this gets corrected only if i restart the computer.
this problem was not there for months. what can i do to
fix it.

I think you will find that your page file will reduce in
size if you do a defragmentation.

Try rt clicking on MyComputer>Select
Prop>Advanced>Performance-Settings>Advanced>Virtual Memory-Change
Click on Custom Size>Initial and Max Box enter 600 click on Set OK.
