Personalizing Received Emails in Outlook 2007

Christine

We have just moved from Groupwise to Outlook. In my work I received large
amounts of email each day from an online form, so the subject line is
identical for each email.

In Groupwise, after I responded to the customer I could use a tab to
customize the subject line on the original email, for instance, I couldmark
it:
"Dean's office, need account numbers follow up 6/10/2008"
and then file it in a follow up folder.

Does anything similar exist in OutlooK? I have checked the help and a book I
but I don't see anything. I do see the colored tabs, but that is not a
helpful option in organizing, as I literally deal with over 300 departments
and 11,000 employees, many following several different procedures within
their areas. I need to to be able to make specific notations about each email
before I file so I can follow up appropriatley. If I have to depend on my
memory or searching each email to return all correspondence then my work will
take much longer and be less accurate.

The only solution I have found so far is to CC myself on every email I send
and change the subject line into a self reminder. This is unweilding to say
the least as it gives me at least 3 copies of every email I receive.

Any help would be much apprieciated.

Right click and drag the original mail to Tasks and create a task regarding
what needs to be done?

Found the answer this morning, so I will share since it doesn't seem to be
here.

All you have to do is open the received email and then click in the subject
field. It will allow you to type and/or delete information and then ask the
changes should be saved when you go to close the email.

Thanks
