personal information query

Perhaps I'm paranoid. <g> I do not want personal information, like my e-mail
address, going to many places - which do not need the information. However,
many web sites require personal information that they [the web sites] have
no business or useful purpose requesting.

How do you handle this?

Hot Mail.
