I can not remember the password for my Personal Folders.pst. According to
Microsoft there's nothing they can do about it. I fully understand the need
to be careful but I would like to know what I CAN do about it. Their advise
under "I forgot my password" section was not to lose it. I only ever use 1
of 2 passwords and it's not either of them so I don't what to do. I need to
able to back up and retrieve my contacts and messages. Am I just S-O-L?
Do I need to just stop using Outlook? I purchased Outlook 2003 purposely for
the calendar aspect regarding my PDA. Thank you for any wisdom you can bring
to my question!

There is a handy tool to strip the password of a pst-file. The funny thing
is that this tool wasn't even written for stripping the password of a
pst-file but for upgrading the pst-file to a newer format. Stripping the
password was just a (handy) side effect. Don't use this tool for any illegal
activities!!!

Read the pstread.txt file included in the zip before using the utility!

Thanks for the quit response, Robert! I'll give a shot and see what happens!
Ever since I installed Norton 2006, Outlook has been giving me heck! I hope
this helps!

Thanks again!

Hi ,

i am suffering from the same issue and tried to use the same utility on .pst
file for outlook 2007. however, it didnt work: i went to the command prompt
and ran the code mentioned in the readme file; i got the error message that
'program terminated'. Does this program work on 2007 outlook files?

thanks,
