Personal folders file - how to create?

M

Mighty Magpie

Frequently, when I start Outlook, I see a message telling me that Outlook
wasn't closed properly and it takes a minute or two to see what the problem
was and then it opens. I have tried detect and repair but it made no
difference so I thought I might begin a new Personal folders file to see if
that worked cos the one I am using has been in use for some years and is
probably huge by now.

Problem is that I can't remember how to create a new personal folder file.
Can someone please advise?

Outlook 2003, Windows XP Pro with SP2 etc

TIA

File, New - copy all items to it then change the default delivery location
to the new one (close outlook, control panel, mail)

Do you have anything syncing with outlook or using outlook data? That will
often cause issues such as you are seeing,

Thanks for the response. I am sure that to anyone of average intelligence,
your advice will be easy to follow but please bear with me for being thick.

I have created a new Outlook data file and have chosen the top option which
apparently provides more storage. I am not sure what you mean about "copy
all items to it"

I closed Outlook and opened Control panel and can see that I have two files
but am not sure what is meant re your comment about changing the default
delivery location.

My original file is located in C:\Documents and Settings\Me\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

Do I just cut and paste that to somewhere else and then use my new folder?

I told you I was thick

Cheers

By the way, in response to your question, I do not sync anything with
outlook but I have been using Mailwasher for several years.
