Persistent MS Reader icons in Word toolbar

Although I have uninstalled MS Reader, my MS Word standard toolbar
shows 9 Reader icons! I don't know how to get rid of them.

Your help would be appreciated. I would like to re-install Reader, but
not to see so many icons cluttering my standard toolbar.

Can you drag them off with ALT+Drag?
Can you drag them off in tools > customize?
Will tools > customize > toolbars > reset clear them?
If the answer to all the above is 'no' rename normal.dot to normal.old and
restart Word. Copy any personalisations from old to new.

Thank you, Graham. I am able to peel them off, one by one, from the
standard toolbar. But they reappear when I reopen Word and also stick
to the File menu. I have deleted Normal.dot several times, to no
avail. Also, using a registry tool, I have been able to remove a
number of references to both MS Reader and WordRMR. But the icons are
still there.

This suggests that they are being placed by an add-in that is loading when
you start Word. Seehttp://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm

Thank you, Suzanne. I have learned one more thing about Word. However,
the pesky Reader cannot be found under Com Add-ins!

Some add-ins that are installed for all users rather than a given user
profile will not be detected by the COM Add-Ins tool. You may be able to
accomplish something through Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs or by just
looking for a likely DLL to remove.
