Persistant routes disappearing within seconds

Hi all,
This is my first post, so i apologise in advance if i've left stuff out.)

I'm using a win2k server, and i need to add a few different routes to it.
When i use 'route print', it will show the 15 routes it already uses.
However, if i add a new, persistant route to a subnet,
route add -p 10.1.1.0 255.255.255.0 x.x.x.x (the gateway)
it will show up in the routing table for anything between a few seconds to a
minute, and then disappear again.

I have found a few sites on the internet mentioning this problem, one of
them suggested to add the route directly to the registry (under the
PersistantRoutes Key) and then reboot, however, on reboot, both the new key
and the route were missing.

I have checked a few different routes, both persistant and non, but all seem
to be deleted after a few seconds. Most of the other routes are directed to
the gateway router with no problems.

I also have another server, using the same service pack (win2k server sp4),
and almost the same routing table, which works perfectly.

Does anyone know of any bugs/fixes for route.exe or hotfixes for win2k that
i may be missing? Or is the problem possibly much simpler?

Thanks a million,
Caz

As I remember, this happens when you have RRAS configured and a dynamic routing protocol
installed in it.

If RRAS is in fact running, you can test this by simply stopping the RRAS service and seeing if the
problem goes away.
