Persistant Code 37

After installing the latest set of MS updates, I no longer have access to my
CD drives. When I look at the device manager, I see a Code 37 in reference
to those drives. I have tried to uninstall the drives and then "Scan for
hardware changes" with no success.

Can anyone help?

Weird - I’ve been servicing PC’s for 27 yrs and I had never seen this
problem but it has come up 3 times in the past 2 weeks and all cases
have been different (so guess who must be to blame)
You might try this:
1. Do a system restore to (at least) a few days ago. I have heard that
one of the updates modified an ATAPI driver.
If that doesn’t fix it
2. look at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 (It’s not for the
same error but it fixed one of the 3 machines)
