permission of users

Hello, i am trying to alter the permission of users on my pc. I have windows
xp home edition. Through the registry i Look under HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE then
SYSTEM then MountedDevices. I try to allow 'full control' and 'read' at the
creator owners but when i click apply the ticks are gone. Any ideas on how to
resolve the problem?

You are trying to set them under your administrator account?
