permission issue

Hi,
I have an issue with permissions. when I share a folder,
it is inaccesible from other computers. However, I can
share the C drive, but I can't get access to some
folders. when I check the security tab under the shared
folder that I want (not c) the permissions are set to
allow, except the allow check marks are shaded and can't
be changed. The c drive permissions are changeable and
OK. Also, some folders, whether system folders, or just
regular folders that I have created, I can't get access to
eventhough the they are within the c share. Hope someone
has an idea. Thanks.

The shaded permissions means they are inherited from a root folder and you
need to go into the advanced page and remove the inheritance tag which will
prompt you if you want to remove or copy current permissions.

If you can not access permissions, then you probably do not have permissions
to do that. An administrator can always take ownership of a folder where he
does not have sufficient permissions and then grant himself needed
permissions. You take ownership in the security/advanced - ownership
age. --- Steve

Thank you Steven. I didn't add the guest account where
you told me to go. I used to run win 98 also, old
hardware, so I'm not used to this added security via NTFS.
Thanks again,
andy
