periodic termination of ie 6

When trying to access certain (but not all) favorite sites
internet explorer 6.0 abruptly terminates. When I click
on these particular sites the program begins to access
them but within 5 seconds or so IE shuts down and brings
me back to my desktop. I don't get any error message ow
warning. This has only started happening recently (about
2 months ago). The software continues to work fine on
most web sites and hasn't frozen or acted unusually except
for this termination problem. I haven't knowingly changed
any settings or loaded any new software. I've tried
reinstalling IE and fixing it (using the add/remove
software procedure). The same thing happened when I tried
using Netscape so I assume it may have something to do
with communications settings.
I am using Windows 98 SE in a Compaq 7000 series machine
with an 800 mz processor. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like you and I are in the same boat with different os ....... this
ie prob is driving me nuts. I have spent days on research for a fix and
uninstalled, reinstalled etc etc...... I am using WinXP Pro but am
considering installing Win98SE on this new puter. I also am having some
programs shut down abruptly as well. Sometimes I get send error report, but
not always.
