Periodic Shutdown

Hi, my laptop always shutdown automatically. It happened
quite often lately (before, the system shutdown - instead
of going to screensaver or standby mode).

I have not installed the Nov patches. Is there any known
virus that causes such problem?

There are many viruses that can cause the symptoms you report, as well
as hardware issues, particularly heat with laptops.

Be sensible - get and use a current antivirus program with updated
definitions and apply the MS security patches to your operating system.
There is no other magic way to make things right.
