PerfOS.dll generate an exception

Hi out there
I have a Windows 2000 Server std. edt. w. SP4 where Winmgmt.exe consumes
more CPU resources than expected and every time I try to get some OS data
from with webem I cannot load PErfos.dll - the following is just logged in
the eventlog:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Perflib
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1010
Date: 04-01-2006
Time: 14:36:08
User: N/A
Computer: DA30381
Description:
The Collect Procedure for the "PerfOS" service in DLL
"C:\WINNT\system32\perfos.dll" generated an exception or returned an invalid
status. Performance data returned by counter DLL will be not be returned in
Perf Data Block. Exception or status code returned is data DWORD 0.
Data:
0000: 3d 01 00 00 =...

I don't know how to get rid of this problem - it doesn't help just to
restart the server - any suggestions?

best regards /ti

From a command prompt;

winmgmt /clearadap
winmgmt /resyncperf

may help.
