Performing command line functions - errors HELP please!!

I used to be able to send messages to groups of users across the network now
for some reason I can't and I would be grateful if someone could help me with
this. when typing net send (name/group) I now get the line 'net' is not
recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Please could someone tell me how to resolve this.
