Here's what I have:

W2k SP4
256ram
Intel 2.2 P4
Nothing in "Start up"
Page file set at 768/1536

I have the SAME set up at work - runs fine.
My home system is slow: on a reboot, 2min 40 seconds to
load system tray after entering network password.

Word and Excel each take about 10 second to load a blank
page.

"My Computer" - about 8 seconds to open

Norton AV 2003 is current. No Spyware according to Spybot
& Adaware.

What am I missing?? Any Suggestions?

How are you for disk space? Also, are you defragmented? Not a bad idea to do
this before anything else.

The page file setting is a bit unusual. Recommended is 1.5 - 2.0 times RAM.
Not that adding RAM would be a bad idea. But reset the page file. To avoid
page file fragmentation, delete it entirely, which will make the next reboot
positively painful, then add it back, preferably as 2x RAM, since RAM is
low. Again, using the same upper and lower setting avoids fragmentation,
after the above defrag.
