performance question

I run IE 6.0 using a DSL. When I click a link I often have
to wait several seconds before anything happens. When the
download starts, it is fast, but this waiting is annoying.
The same happens when I type in a new URL.

What could be the cause
- my ZoneAlarm firewall?
- My NU antivirus?
- My ISP?
- or what?

conflict. something else running or trying to run, check
for spyware/adware/malware, or other app running.
