Performance Options

Under the subject title, I have "processor scheduling" allocated for
"programs" rather than "background services" and "memory" for "system
cache" rather than "programs".

What "background services" are they talking about ??

What is stored in the "system cache" ??

What difference in system performance would one see by changing to
"background services" and "system cache" ??

Thank you.

Processor scheduling.

Programs:
[[Specifies that more processor resources are given to the foreground
program than to the background program.]]

Background services:
[[Specifies that all programs receive equal amounts of processor
resources.]]

Memory usage.

Programs:
[[Click this option if you are using this machine as a workstation, rather
than as a server. Your programs will work faster and your system cache size
will be the default size that came with Windows XP.]]

System cache:
[[Click this option if you are using this machine as a server, or if you use
programs that require a large system cache.]]

The question mark [?] is your friend.
On the title bar of most dialog boxes in the upper right corner is a [?]
button. As there are in many other Windows items.

[[Help is available for each item in this group. Click ? at the top of the
dialog box, and then click the item you want information about.]]
Left click [?] and your cursor turns into a ?, click the item you want to
know about. This will display a help topic if there is one.

You can also right-click the item and then click the What's This? command.

You can also right click on the displayed help topic and select copy.
