Performance hack in registry to not change date

ISTR there is a registry hack to improve performance.

I think the idea was for XP not to keep changing the DATE MODIFIED or
not to use DATE CREATED.

I want to check if that hack is on my system as I don't want it!

I'm guessing you are talking about File System entries at:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

Click the entries on the File System items on the left;
NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation, NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate, etc.
