I followed 'these' (http://tinyurl.com/6l9sm) instructions from
Microsoft.com, and it was all fine up until step 5 when it says to
press R to repair Windows XP. None of the options on my screen are to
press R, and when I do, nothing happens. Does anyone have any idea what
is wrong? Does this mean that no Repairs are needed?

One more question. If I select to -Set up Windows XP on the selected
item-, will that delete everything I already have on my Windows XP (i.e
music, files, installed programs)?

Any help is appreciated.

If XP is currently installed and a repair if being attempted two options for
"repair" are offered. The first is the recovery console - not selecting
this repair option will cause XP installation to proceed. As the process
proceeds a screen will appear stating that setup has detected a Windows
installation which it will list and give you the option of selecting the
installation and the option to repair. If, as you state, this dialogue is
not present then setup has not detected a previous Windows installation -
generally not a good sign.
However you do not provide sufficient information such as why are you
attempting a repair? - Although implied, is XP currently installed? Are you
attempting to install in a separate folder or partition?

Here is an alternative set of instructions for doing a Repair Install.
