Perflib Perdata

Gordon

I have noticed in a Temp file that a large number of items
marked Perflib Perdata are apparent. Can anyone advise me
what they are and if I can delete them or prevent them
from appearing in the first place. I use a broadband
connection and Windows XP and did not notice them in
Windows 98 and wonder if this has anything to do with it.
Thanks

Yes, you can safely delete them !
1 or 2 of them will be used by XP (Performance Measurement, XP will tell,
which file it currently uses).
The other files can be deleted.
Any program can probably use such performance counters (for example : XP
resource- or network monitors).
So it might be difficult, to prevent this from happening at all !
Try searching the internet, or microsoft web-site.
And yes: Didn't happen it W9X (at least not to me). Doesn't REGULARLY happen
in XP either.

One omission from earlier post. If I remember correctly, after the
install completes there will not be a Program Group & Icon created
for the tool You will need to Explore to C:\Program Files\Resource Kit
and locate the Exctrlst.Exe and create a shortcut.
