PERFLIB ERROR Event ID: 1010

Trent

The Collect Procedure for the "Tcpip" service in
DLL "C:\WINNT\system32\Perfctrs.dll" generated an
exception or returned an invalid status. Performance data
returned by counter DLL will be not be returned in Perf
Data Block. Exception or status code returned is data
DWORD 0.

My event log is full of these.. There doesn't seem to be
any adverse effects on any of the users, but an event log
full of stop signs drives me nuts! I have made several
forays into MS.com trying to shed some light on this
problem, but so far, no luck.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This is a Win2K Server with SP4

Hi Trent,

If you install the Windows 2000 Resource Kit you will find a tool called
EXCTRLST.EXE. If you do not have a copy of the Resource Kit, the tool is
also available for download from microsoft.com:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...83-b7ec-4da6-92ab-793193604ba4&DisplayLang=en

Run the tool, and select Counter ID for your Sort Order. From the list of
Extensible Performance Counters, select Tcpip, and then uncheck the
"Performance Counters Enabled" checkbox. This will disable the Tcpip
performance counter object and should stop the error from being generated.
