Hi all, im looking at the specs of a p4 cpu :
Processor Speed: 3.0 Ghz
L2 Cache Speed: 3.0 Ghz
what is the L2 cache mean is it dual core?
The L2 cache is a fairly large (in this case) piece of memory that is
on the processor die. It is much faster than main memory. Programs
that access a small set of memory location over and over again can see
large performance increases with a cache, while other operations that
run through large amounts of data sequentially will see much less
improvement.
If your Pentium is dual core, it will likely have a D in the model
name (i.e. Pentium D 930 or D 945 for a 3.0 Ghz dual core).
