Pentium 2 & XP Slow

J

Joanne

I have a pentium 2 processor and when I installed XP I
noticed a dramatic change in the speed. I have cable
connection and it still runs very slow. I also have the
McAfee Security center running. Does this program slow
down the proformance of XP? I also had additional memory
intalled & harddrive when XP was installed. Still no
difference in proformance.
Thanks for any help.

Pentium 2 is about bare minimum cpu for a XP operating
system. The speed of the proccessor will determine the
speed of opening and closing programs. Also, check your
motherboard specs for max ram you can install.Don't add
more than it can handle. In todays world,P2's are
slow. With McAfee and what ever else running in
background, will slow it down more, but DO NOT turn anti-
virus off.....Good luck.

One Note - turn off all the XP bells and whistles and it will speed up
slightly.
