pent III problems after sp-2

After downloading sp-2 I had too many problems with too
many things, I deleted every thing, did a 35 pass wipe of
hard drive, formated and reloaded windows Even after this
my pent III 500 is showing up in system propertys as a
pent III 249 (Which there is no such thing) and I can see
the difference in speed. The worse virus I ever had never
gave me as much problems as sp-2 can anyone explain this?

I would go to Intel's website and grab their frequency identifier. This
will tell you the real speed of your processor. Windows may be reading
it wrong or you may have the wrong settings in your BIOS. Double check
thie BIOS options as well to make sure those aren't causing the problem ;)
