Peer to peer problem

I'm using a peer to peer network with a crossover cable between a Win 2000
machine, and a Win 98 machine. It used to work OK, but now, I get "Network
connection no longer available" error message after trying to copy a file
using Windows explorer from one machine to another. Could the cable be bad?
I can view the shared devices, but not access them.

Any help is appreciated.

check both network cards are still functioning in your
device manager. Next check that in the properties of the
cards add the Netbui protocol (you can still leave TCP/IP
in). If all of this is done id say your cable may be
faulty.
