OT- XP Networking Issue - Peer to Peer

O

office newbie

I have 9 Windows XP Pro machines running Peer to Peer.
They all connect to a mapped network drive on PC-1.

I know there is 10 connection limit on XP Pro and I need to add two more
computers to my system.

This is only a file share and does not need the firepower of a high end
server running SBS or Windows Server.

Would a small NAS box like Netgear SC101 do the job?

Thanks for any advice.

I misread your last post - yes, if you move the shares off the XP box you
also remove the connection limitation of XP. You can have more than ten
computers on any network, the limit only applies to connections to any
shares on an XP computer.

Exist a small box with a hard disk and a ethernet card and the AC-power
-SAN I believe- that looks like a external CDROM unit, attached to the
switch of the LAN. This have sharing for several lan connections at low
cost. This becomes with a http admin console.

Then you aren't using the Windows XP box as the connecting point so the
"10 connections" aren't in effect.

Thanks Bob. I was clarifying for others.
