Does this mean I *MUST* set up users on the win98se PCs?
Can't the w2k PC be told to just let anyone have access to
whatever share?

Right now we just boot straight to windows w/o having to
log in.

You're probably logged into Windows without knowing it. If you click on the
start button, do you see "Log Off Default" as an option? If so, that's your
username, and there's no password. Set up a user called Default, with no
password, on W2k.

No. There is no log-off [user] option on the Start menu
so I would not know what ID to setup on the w2k PC.

Do you have "Log Off ..." or anything?
What services do you have in your network applet?
