Peachtree software - Btrieve engine slow to close

Peachtree Accounting software uses Pervasive Software's 16bit Btrieve databse
engine.
Microsoft XP patches Q811493, Q810577, KB826939 ( containg these previous
two patches), and now Service Pack 2, all cause the W32MKDE.EXE file to hang
when exiting the Peachtree program. Sometimes it is just for a few minutes,
and is harmless. Other times the file hangs for hours on closing. This IS a
problem because it prevents a native format backup of the data files.
I was told by Peachtree tech support that Microsoft has a download to
correct this problem, but I have been unsuccessful in finding it.
I also understand that some other programs also have trouble closing due to
these patches and the service pack.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for this download ?

Thank you,

A. If Peachtree tech support said there is a patch, then they should tell
you how to obtain it by sending you an email link to the patch site.

Try the Btrieve setting in the setup for Delete Lock Files = Yes/No.
Change to No. Give that a shot. I ran across a similer problem a
couple of years ago until we moved to Pervasive 2000i.
