I just kicked acrobat pdf reader 7.1 out of my tasks. it retained 32 MB
memory even after having it closed. Is there any way to stop AR reaining
memory after having it closed ? I guess there are smaller pdf readers
who migth be better = smaller, more rapid, than Acrobat Reader ?

You can use Acrobat Reader SpeedUp from http://www.tnk-bootblock.co.uk to
deactivate not needed plugins. Finally remove the "Adobe Reader Speed
Launch" from the Windows Startup. The later one is used to preload AR into
memory.

Romain,
thanks for the hint. I'll also try it when their server is up again.
Speed Launch had already been disabled ...

Thanks

Does this release of foxit let you select printing odd/even pages?

thanx

I just installed the new one, Version 1.3 Build 0913.

Three Print Subset Options:
all pages in range
odd pages only
even pages only

If the old Acrobat BHO is sticking in memory, try BHO Demon. Actually,
Spybot will show you the BHO's. The BHO will be spelled similar to
"acrobat". Just delete it and re-boot and you can reclaim your memory.

FoxIT is really a killer app.

Just delete or move the following .lnk file:

c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\Adobe
Reader Speed Launch.lnk

Acrobat Reader 4 or Foxit Reader are my suggestions. (I've been recently
trying the latter with much success.)

I mean, it gets stuck... :(

Are you refering to the document not allowing you to go past the
magazine's index page? If so, that's not really a big problem. You
simply click on the article's page number and you go there. I think this
is the way the document was composed. I'm using Acrobat Reader 6.0 (with
all updates.)
