PDF hyperlink gives me a message that says "No program is registe.

When I hyperlink to a PDF file, I keep getting a security message I have to
agree to then and then another message says "There is no program register to
open this file." I have Adobe so I thought it would open, but I guess
something is improperly set-up.

Adobe is a company. The link is looking for software. ;-)

You'd need Acrobat or Reader. What happens if you just doubleclick on the PDF
in Windows Explorer? Does the PDF open? If it doesn't, then PowerPoint won't
be able to open it via links either.
