I have a presentation on CD that will not play hyperlinks to .pdf's. The
error is "No program is registered to open this file". I have Adobe reader 7.
0 installed. Any ideas?

What is the *exact* version number of Adobe Reader 7.0? (i.e. Version 7.0.3)
Have you installed the latest updates for Adobe Reader 7.0?

This information can be found under Help -> About Adobe Reader 7.0...

To check for updates, click Help -> Check for updates now...

Or you could manually download the Adobe Reader 7.0 updates here:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=10&platform=Windows

What version of PowerPoint do you have?
Does this version of PowerPoint have the latest updates and service packs?

This information can be found under Help -> About Microsoft PowerPoint
In newer versions (i.e. PowerPoint 2003), click Help -> About Microsoft Office PowerPoint

It should say something like:
Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 (11.6564.6568) SP2
Part of Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003

This is all the information we need. Well, the "Part of ..." is not really necessary, but it is helpful at
times (especially when a user needs help on adding/removing components/programs, uninstalling/removing, or
repairing Microsoft Office or Microsoft PowerPoint).

How to check for updates (for Microsoft Office and Microsoft PowerPoint):

A) Click Help -> Check for Updates

B) Go to
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdate/default.aspx
and click the "Check for Updates" link.
A list of products supported can be found here:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/FX010402221033.aspx#langSupport

C) Go to
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/
and click the "Express" button.
A list of Microsoft products that Microsoft Update supports can be found on the "FAQ" link under the question
"Which products does Microsoft Update support?" which is approximately half way down the page after the large
table of supported Windows operating systems.

What happens if you doubleclick a PDF from Windows Explorer?

And before bothering to try that, start Reader and get the updates.
7.0 is broken; links from PPT to PDFs won't work no matter what until you
update.
