.pdf files

Have been using IE 6.1 (with all the latest updates). I
commonly access pdf documents which have been working
fine with Acrobat Reader 5.1. I accidentally downloaded
Reader 4.0, which took over opening all pdf files. I
deleted it, and now cannot open pdf's in the browser.
Can't figure out a fix. Help!

I had something similar happen when I allowed Reader 6.0 to download and install an update. Royally messed IE displaying pdfs. I also had Acrobat 4.0 loaded to create pdfs and somewhere along the line Reader 5.0 was installed. I finally had to uninstall all the Readers and Acrobat and then reinstall Acrobat 4.0 to get the IE plugin to work. I didn't bother with Reader 6.0 again ... probably will sometime but I'd like a day to go by without having to fix or update something ;

You basically need to find (download) a copy of Reader 5.x and re-install it.

There is either a KB article, or a discussion in a forum, on the Adobe site about how to make sure
your system has no trace of Adobe before you re-install.

Also, make sure your anti-virus software is not running when you perform the installation.

Hope that helps
