When I receive an attachment that is a pdf document, it is convered to a word
document and appears with the Word icon. Why is that and what do I change to
keep it as a pdf document so I can open it in Outlook rather than saving it
to my computer first.

Very odd indeed. What version of Adobe Acrobat (or Reader) do you run, and
is it fully updated?
If you use another PDF reader instead, mention that.
Does the file launch properly as a PDF when you save it & then open it?
What version & service pack level of Outlook?
Are you using Word as email editor?
What mail format was this message sent in, and can you reproduce the problem
by sending a PDF file to yourself (from, say, a Yahoo account)?

I am using Adboe 6.0 and it is fully updated.
The file does launch as a pdf if I save it and then open it.
I am using Outlook 2003, SP2
I am not using Word as a email editor, but and using Word to read rich text
email messages.
The message was sent in html format.

Thanks for any help you can give me.
