PDA phone and outlook sms

I have installed the sms function for outlook 2003 - does it work with PDA
phones connected only by sync usb cable>
 
As long as you can setup the modem connection it should work.

My PDA is a k-jam running windows mobile version 5. I don't quite understand
the modem set up on the system to make it work. There is no phone connection
to the PC other than normal active sync
