PC's still with XP

It was a bit interesting today to read a leaflet of special offers for our
local LIDL store (German owned grocery store and they have offers on PC's
and peripherals at times) there is an offer on a high end laptop next week
over 1,000.00 Euro ....... has it got Vista? - the answer is no, it comes
with Windows XP MCE!

I was just quite surprised at that and would have thought all new PC's now
come with Vista pre-installed. Not even a mention of a free upgrade to Vista
either.

Andy.

Are you certain they claimed this to be a NEW PC out of the box?
Sounds like a hand-me-down.

Not everyone has to offer the upgrade. It's not a requirement.

However, I would be wary of it anyway. Ask lots of questions.

I looked yesterday at a fairly high-end laptop (2.4Ghz, 2GB ram, 120GB hd)
being offered at a local store for ~$850US with MCE2005. It listed as Vista
capable, but there was no mention of a free upgrade.
