PCMCIA_Unknown_Manufacturer

The PSION Gold Card worked for months without problem and
then, every time windows started it found a new device
which it could not install. The device message states
PCMCIA_Unknown_Manufacturer. Since then, I have tried
three other PCMCIA modems with the same problem. The PC
is a Sony VAIO using a Ricoh PCMCIA bus. Sony´s web site
doesn´t have any suport for this issue. The VAIO has all
the XP Home updates and there are no conflicts of any
type. Seems to me the PCMCIA bus is damaged. Any ideas?

Yes it looks like the slot is damaged. Try to clean the slot with special vacuum cleaner,
look for bent pins of the pcmcia connector.
It could be also an electrically damaged.
